Build Season Week #4

1/31/2018

Lots happening all at  the same time! The build team is wrapping  up the elevator and intake mechanisms for the practice bot while controls makes sure the wiring is clean and crisp for the competition version.  This year we will have everything labeled!  And in one spot!

The CAD is just about done with the "payload" to finalize the climbing portion of our robot and the Chairman's team is feeling the pressure on developing their video with next week being the deadline!  All happening at the same  time!

FLL Jr. Competes & Concord & Build Season Week 3

1/23/2018

We are so proud of our Jr. FLL teams that competed this past weekend for the first time in Concord.  All five teams across the four elementary schools were represented. It was a great learning experience for them. Thank you to our Premiere Level sponsors who make this possible.

This is the start of Week 3. Each of the sub teams are making progress from last week. Currently the Mechanics team is wiring the new chassis and working on building the elevator so it will work.  The Controls team was testing the practice chassis for code of tele-op and autonomous.  Also they're working on fixing some wiring issues on the practice chassis. The CAD team is working on the final deigns for the elevator and the climber. They are trying to place these two parts on the chassis design so they can give mechanics accurate measurements. Also they designed a  "buddy bar" and it will be placed on the robot. The business team is finalizing the chairman's essay which the goal is to finish that this week. Also were working on the chairman's video and continuing progress with the video to get it finished by February 8th.

Goals of the Day

5:30-9pm
Part One:
We are a couple weeks into the seasons. The programming team has been updating computers, roboRIO and all of the technology that is needed for the current season.  They have been working a lot on the chassis and making sure that the practice robot will be able to run within the week. To do this they had to rewire the practice chassis and they had to write the basic teleop code. Today, they plan on wiring and labeling all of the motor controllers and test the teleop and auto code.
Today, mechanics jobs is to Make the new version of the Intake Mechanism, Construct prototype for PAYLOAD, need RUNG constructed ASAP, work with mentor Gary on payload,  Fix Practice chassis, move roboRIO so battery can fit. They have also achieved a lot this week by finishing the practice chassis and send it to the programming to test.
CAD had been working on the necessary drawings today they have to Intake design,
use Burdette’s sketch to make Intake sub assembly, climber arm design, where and how to mount, how will payload attach to arm, buddy bar design. We hope that they will work hard and get the job done.

Chairman's/ business will do what they usually do, work on the chairman's essay, work on storyboard for the video and get approval from head coach. The goal is to get approval this week and start focusing getting chairman's award done by the submission date February 8th!
2018 Q Branch team will be successful and work hard to get the job done.

From writing essays, editing video, to  designing locker posters and banners the business crew has been very busy making sure Q Branch keeps a pink image this season! They are excited to have good documentation for this season and past seasons up to date, something we have struggled with in the past. They have also tons of video footage and pictures to organize and edit for awards and promotional videos. We are so proud of all their hard work!

Jr. FLL Prepares for Expo & Build Season rolls on...

1/13/2018

We are so excited that our Jr. FLL teams are now in all four of our elementary schools. They have been working hard this season to be successful with the Aqua Adventure Challenge. They are excited to compete at the Concord event on January 20th where they will present not only their water transfer system but their "Show Me" posters. They are so thankful to the district level sponsors that have allowed them to get their first robotics experiences in both documentation, building, and coding using the Lego WeDo 2.0 set.

At the FRC level, we are still working on prototyping today and have a lot of our team focused on the climbing system, the elevator, and the cube intake. We are excited to take on several challenges in the engineering process as we try to figure out how the systems work both independently and together. Our Chairmans team is continuing to work on filming and finalizing the essay as well as documenting the season.

Build Season has BEGUN!!

We started the PowerUP 2018 season and we are so excited! The game presents many challenges and strategy will play a big role in how the matches play out. Check out the video for the game here.  Rookie members of the team went to Grand Rapids to get the kit of parts and celebrate with other teams, while veterans stayed behind to set up the field and study the rules. After the game was revealed we did a human walk through to learn how matches will play out. We then met to strategize and complete a QFD. This allows us to choose the best choices for the robot design.

On January 9th, students and mentors presented ideas for robot design. We were then able to evaluate the top designs and start prototyping. The next few meetings will be focused on super chassis prototyping and chassis development. We plant to release our white papers for this season on our website after build season concludes.

Progress has been going well all around, business working on chairman's video and essays, CAD working on possible robot design, mechanics is working on prototypes. We are excited to have a good and successful season.
