Hello! Today, December 7th 2024, Q Branch logs back in to tell YOU about our offseason. This is when we take the time to practice our skills and do fun things like participate in offseason events, host for FLL and FTC, and volunteer for our community. This year, we were graciously invited to the Goonettes Invitational event and, because of all of our female team members, we are happy to say that we ended the event on a good note by coming in first place with our alliance! Additionally, we continued our practice of hosting the FTC Challenge Qualifier and FLL Challenge and Explore Expo in November; and, for the second year in a row, we are volunteering for our local food bank! As of now, we are having our members run their yearly skills camp for new members to be equipped with all the skills needed to participate in the subteam of their choosing. Today, February 24th, 2024, Q Branch logs back in to tell YOU about how we’re preparing for competition season; our drive team spends the entire day practicing for the Battle Creek Central district competition and controls subteam works on the final finishing touches on our programming. In addition, our business subteam is working on practicing the presentation and editing the Impact Award Video, while our captains work on their presentations for our Sponsor Night this week! Today, February 10th, 2024, Q Branch logs back in to tell YOU about our fifth week of build season; this week, because of our early robot accomplishments, our team went to the GVSU Mini Competition where our drive team and controls subteam will practice driving with different strategies and code. Meanwhile, our business subteam stays behind to work diligently on their Impact presentation and documentation. Today, February 3rd, 2024 Q Branch logs back in to tell YOU about our fourth week of the build season; this week is all about working on the small stuff that gets put off and preparing for competition. The Mechanics subteam is working on organizing their workbenches and determining what tools they will need on-site while simultaneously upgrading our robot cart. The CAD subteam is working on extra designs for things such as Q Branch swag and the Business subteam presentation board. The Controls subteam is working on testing out all the code, and the business subteam has finished the essay and essay questions. Today, January 27th, 2024 Q Branch logs back in to tell YOU about our third week of the build season; this week is all about finishing and refining the details of the robot. Our CAD subteam digitally refines these details and gives the final measurements for the robot to our Mechanics subteam. Meanwhile, the Mechanics subteam works on ensuring the arm doesn’t cause the robot to wobble and beautifying the robot with LED lights. Our Controls subteam continues to perfect and test their code and works with Mechanics to program the LEDs for specific designs and colors. Among all this, is the Business subteam who finished the Impact essay questions and has moved on to writing the essays for the Impact Award and Woodie Flowers. Our Mechanics Subteam has built the final chassis, and has started building the arms and intake. Alongside the Mechanics subteam, is the CAD Subteam, they work with Mechanics to provide measurements as needed, and design the elevator. Meanwhile, our Controls Subteam works on perfecting the auton for this year’s challenge. In sync. our Business Subteam has planned out their agenda for the rest of the season and designed and ordered our swag. Today, January 14th, 2024 Q Branch logs back in to tell YOU about our first week of the build season; this week was all about generating our robot idea and bringing it to life. The Mechanics and CAD subteams work together to prototype the robot to get accurate measurements and visual representation of what the components are going to look like separately before CAD puts it all together. Meanwhile, the Controls subteam uses last year’s robot chassis to go over the code and revise/practice with it as needed. In addition, the Business subteam is hard at work, revising documents and going over the essay and essay questions as needed. Our second skills camp is all about preparing new and old members for the work we do during the build season as each of the captains takes the lead in getting their new members accustomed to the tools and resources used.
