From writing essays, editing video, to designing locker posters and banners the business crew has been very busy making sure Q Branch keeps a pink image this season! They are excited to have good documentation for this season and past seasons up to date, something we have struggled with in the past. They have also tons of video footage and pictures to organize and edit for awards and promotional videos. We are so proud of all their hard work!

We are so excited that our Jr. FLL teams are now in all four of our elementary schools. They have been working hard this season to be successful with the Aqua Adventure Challenge. They are excited to compete at the Concord event on January 20th where they will present not only their water transfer system but their "Show Me" posters. They are so thankful to the district level sponsors that have allowed them to get their first robotics experiences in both documentation, building, and coding using the Lego WeDo 2.0 set. At the FRC level, we are still working on prototyping today and have a lot of our team focused on the climbing system, the elevator, and the cube intake. We are excited to take on several challenges in the engineering process as we try to figure out how the systems work both independently and together. Our Chairmans team is continuing to work on filming and finalizing the essay as well as documenting the season. We started the PowerUP 2018 season and we are so excited! The game presents many challenges and strategy will play a big role in how the matches play out. Check out the video for the game here. Rookie members of the team went to Grand Rapids to get the kit of parts and celebrate with other teams, while veterans stayed behind to set up the field and study the rules. After the game was revealed we did a human walk through to learn how matches will play out. We then met to strategize and complete a QFD. This allows us to choose the best choices for the robot design. On January 9th, students and mentors presented ideas for robot design. We were then able to evaluate the top designs and start prototyping. The next few meetings will be focused on super chassis prototyping and chassis development. We plant to release our white papers for this season on our website after build season concludes. Progress has been going well all around, business working on chairman's video and essays, CAD working on possible robot design, mechanics is working on prototypes. We are excited to have a good and successful season. - Alayna Carr & Lindsey Keller ![]() FTC States
December 14-15, 2017 We helped out our younger team set up for FTC state championship held at Kellogg Arena, here in Battle Creek. Since Lakeview had started helping host these events, our student were be required to have at least 12 hours of volunteer work at this event. This event has grown to 97 teams and become a two day event so we out grew our high school. We are very thankful for the City of Battle Creek and Kellogg Arena for aiding in making this awesome event happen! Unfortunately our Lakeview middle school team did not make it, but everyone was still happy to help with this amazing event Our team met Saturday from 10am-4pm to prepare sub teams for the upcoming season. In mechanics, they worked on taking apart our robot from the previous season, CAD worked on the stress test where they experimented with different parts, as well as the Programming team who are learning about how to program different things, and in Chairman’s/Business team, we are working on the essay and video for the award, and taking pictures for our website. A huge thanks to the mentors who have been helping us prepare for the future meetings as well as updating our skills.
Alayna Robinson Today, we gathered as a team and simulated kickoff for rookie members, which was very exciting! We took previous competitions and got into groups where we would then get the handbook for the competition and work as a team to put together a chart to evaluate what our robot would do in the competition, such as auton. We gave it a scale from being important to things we wouldn’t need to worry about. Also, during our break from it we did a team building exercise where we would bond as a team to learn each other's names, and to come together even more we have a nerf war next weekend! Sub team versus sub team!

10am-4pm All rookie members and returning all get together before the robotics season starts and talk about the different subteams. The goal is to go through all the different sub team and get experience and knowledge about what each subteam is about. Students cycle through each team in groups talking about what they do and what they are about. Each subteam is special they all have jobs that they need to do to make this team, 4327 successful. That’s what we are teaching these amazing rookies and returning members Alayna Carr |
